The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) sent a letter to Republican senators in support of S. 3386, the Health Care Freedom for Patients Act.
The so-called Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, was never affordable. The government propped up Obamacare with subsidies because it was so expensive. Some Americans are only now learning to what extent.
Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, introduced the bill.
S. 3386 directs money to patients instead of insurance companies. If the bill becomes law, Americans will get to choose the insurance plan that best fits their needs. Americans who prefer catastrophic plans will be able to choose low-cost plans. An excerpt from CURE:
The Crapo-Cassidy bill will lower premiums by 11 percent in 2027 and beyond by providing cost-sharing reduction payments. The bill will also allow Health Savings Accounts to be paired with more affordable health insurance plans. These pre-funded, patient-driven accounts will help patients pay for out-of-pocket costs.
CURE said that Obamacare subverted the Hyde Amendment’s protections against using federal funds to pay for elective abortions. Under the bill, federal taxpayers’ also would not have to pay for “gender-transitioning” procedures.
CURE, whose mission is restoring dignity through a message of faith, freedom, and personal responsibility, wants to see fewer Americans depending on the government. And no more taxpayers’ money spent on illegal aliens, abortions, or “gender” transitioning.
“In order for health care reform legislation to be enacted in 2026, it must make health care more affordable, spend taxpayer dollars responsibly, and give patients the choices they deserve.”
