Earlier last month, we told you about a New York school district discriminating against a high school student who wanted to start a group called the Jesus Club for herself and fellow Christian students. The school district dragged its feet while suggesting that she change the name to the Faith Club to be more “inclusive.”
The student’s legal counsel, American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), sent a letter to the school district demanding that the bureaucrats respect the student’s rights. Apparently, the Plattsburgh City School District was persuaded by ACLJ’s arguments and will allow the Jesus Club.
According to ACLJ, a teacher berated the student in front of her class during all of this. That teacher is now on administrative leave. From ACLJ:
The school district had no legal ground to stand on. And after our legal team stepped in, the district knew it.
…
But the Constitution does not allow schools to redefine “inclusivity” as a weapon against faith.
The U.S. Constitution has always protected religious freedom in this way, and Christians intend to keep demanding that government schools, which we pay for, respect our rights.
