Conservative activist Robert Woodson died on May 19, 2026, at age 89.
Among many other things, he led the charge against the historically flawed “1619 Project,” which began with a series of articles that appeared in The New York Times Magazine, which claimed that the true founding of the country began in 1619 when slaves first arrived, and not with the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Woodson created the 1776 Project to set the record straight.
In response, President Donald Trump during his first administration created the 1776 Commission, which Joe Biden promptly canceled when he entered office.
In the video below, Woodson and Ken Blackwell discuss the 1619 Project on the Bill Walton show.
