Rot of Race-Based Admissions Runs Deep — The Trump Administration Targets Five Medical Schools Over Discrimination

The rot of race-based admissions in colleges and universities across the country is deep. It will take many years of relentless determination to uproot the demeaning and sorry justifications and prevent the blight from returning.

The Trump administration has, once again, opened investigations into taxpayer-funded medical schools for discriminating against individuals based on the color of their skin in admissions.

The Washington Times reported that medical schools at Dartmouth College, East Carolina University, Saint Louis University, William Carey University, and Western University of Health Sciences are the targets of U.S. Department of the Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division investigations for violating federal law.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that race-based admissions policies are unconstitutional.

Race is not a qualification to get into medical school. From The Washington Times:

The Education Department did not identify the source of the complaints. If found guilty of violating federal civil rights law, the five medical schools could lose federal funding for scholarships and grants.

Three of the schools insisted on their innocence in statements to The Washington Times.

Racial discrimination in academia is insidious. Under the guise of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI), leftists will continue to push this heinous practice as long as they can.

“Absent strong proof to the contrary, it is a near-certainty that every medical school in the country has been favoring less qualified Black applicants over more qualified White and Asian applicant,” said Heather MacDonald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute.

The people who “benefit” from racial discrimination certainly don’t want to give it up.

“They are making it harder for non-White men to attend these schools, while making it easier for White men,” said Omekongo Dibinga, a professor at American University.

You know the best way to ensure fairness, not DEI? Allow a blind application process where members of admissions committees don’t know the race or sex of individual applicants. Assess each applicant based on grades, scores, and achievements.

But we know how that would turn out. That’s why bureaucrats lower standards for certain “minorities” with thumb-on-the-scale schemes that essentially penalize someone for having the “wrong” skin color. That’s not fair to anyone of any race.
