Senate Majority Leader John Thune has circulated the Center for Urban Renewal and Education‘s (CURE) letter of support for Senator Tim Scott’s 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act:
CURE has also shared this letter with the White House. An excerpt:
“The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates that regulations account for roughly 25 percent of costs for a single-family housing construction project and 40 percent for a multifamily housing project. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act tackles these high housing costs by eliminating unnecessary, burdensome, and outdated red tape. It unlocks substantial private investment to improve dilapidated public housing nationwide and it provides temporary flexibility for communities responding to homelessness to expand shelter capacity and get people off the streets.”
