CURE Joins Amicus Brief in Defending States’ Right to Protect Life

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) joined Advancing American Freedom (AAF) and other allies in submitting an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief in Missouri v. FDA.

During the Biden Administration, they exploited the COVID pandemic by having the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) loosen safety protocols for mifepristone, a chemical abortion drug. This includes changes that allow mifepristone to be prescribed without an in-person visit to the doctor and that has led to illegal mailing of the drug into pro-life states.

In response, Missouri, Louisiana and other pro-life states are challenging the FDA on these actions. As AAF General Counsel J. Marc Wheat explained, “States’ pro-life laws protect both women and the unborn from the dangers of abortion. The abortionists’ campaign to frustrate the enforcement of state pro-life laws would not be possible had the FDA not dropped the in-person dispensing requirement for chemical abortion.”

The case currently sits before the District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. In this amicus brief, CURE joins other pro-life leaders in calling on the court to protect women’s health and to uphold the sanctity of unborn life and the rights of states enshrined in the Tenth Amendment.
