Senate HELP Committee to Hold Hearing on Protecting Children from Irreversible Gender Transition Procedures

The U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee has announced it will hold a hearing on Wednesday, June 3, on how Congress can protect children from the dangers of irreversible gender procedures.

Earlier this month, the Committee announced it was launching an investigation into alarming reports of federally funded health entities performing irreversible gender mutilation on children and vulnerable individuals.

HELP Committee Chairman Dr. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) stated, “Health care providers are supposed to protect children’s health, not subject them to dangerous sex-change procedures driven by ideology. These entities need to be held accountable to prevent further harm to children.”

The committee’s announcement notes a lawsuit against providers at Thundermist Health Center and Hasbro Children’s Hospital for allegedly performing dangerous gender transition procedures on children and other vulnerable patients, including those with severe mental illness. A total of 66% of Thundermist’s grant and contribution revenue comes from Americans’ tax dollars.

As the HELP Committee continues to investigate this horrific practice, CURE will continue to fight for the safety and security of America’s youth and the right of parents to guide and protect them.
