Colorado Targets Christians Again — This Time, Doctors and Dentists

Colorado does not like Christians.

Ask Jack Phillips, a baker who didn’t want to use his artistic talents to bake a custom “wedding” cake for two men. Or Lorie Smith, a Christian photographer and blogger who did not want to provide services for homosexual “weddings.”

The U.S. Supreme Court in April 2026 ruled that Colorado’s ban on “conversion” therapy was unconstitutional. Kaley Chiles had to fight for her rights and those of her clients.

Now Christian doctors and dentists have filed a lawsuit to protect their rights. The state mistakenly believes it can force these health professionals to provide services that conflict with their religious beliefs.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a federal lawsuit last week on behalf of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations and Button Family Practice P.C.

Bryan Neihart, a lawyer at ADF, noted that Colorado does not respect the rights of Christians.

“Forcing doctors to perform dangerous, unproven gender-transition procedures against their medical judgment, their oath to do no harm, and their faith is unconstitutional,” he said. “The state is not allowed to conscript doctors to harm the very children and adults entrusted to their care. The First Amendment trumps Colorado’s mandate to embrace the lie of gender ideology.”

Colorado has already lost multiple fights over religious freedom, yet officials keep pushing. Christian doctors and dentists should not have to choose between their faith, their medical judgment, and their profession.
