This week, CURE joined Advancing American Freedom (AAF) and other allies in submitting an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief in A Woman’s Concern v. Healey.
This case involves a Massachusetts pro-life pregnancy resource center, A Woman’s Concern. Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, the Massachusetts state government immediately sought avenues to thwart the impact of the Court’s decision. They promptly partnered with a private organization to target A Woman’s Concern and other pregnancy resource centers.
As AAF General Counsel J. Marc Wheat stated, “Pro-life pregnancy resource centers do invaluable work on the ground helping women navigate unplanned pregnancies. When states seek to burden these clinics with smear campaigns, investigations, and subpoenas, the clinics must have access to judicial relief.”
The State of Massachusetts has pursued a political agenda by impeding the vital work of pregnancy care centers and undermining their ability to provide care and assistance to women with unplanned pregnancies. CURE is proud to join AAF and other pro-life allies in urging the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit to provide relief to A Woman’s Concern and other pregnancy care centers that generously support women during a very challenging time in their lives.
