What Kind of Country Do Democrats Want? Not the One the Founders Created.

If you watched Democratic members of Congress during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night, it’s obvious that they do not want the same things as ordinary, law-abiding Americans.

Leftists show disdain for enforcing our nation’s immigration laws, for example, and putting America first. They seem to have a higher regard for foreign criminal parasites who kill Americans and defraud citizens of their hard-earned money.

Leftists have no pride in our country, its freedom, or its institutions.

In her latest column, “At America’s 250th Birthday, Democrats Want a Different Country,” Star Parker wrote about a new Gallup poll that revealed the extent of this division.

“In this 250th year of America’s birthday, we now have one party who no longer wants the nation founded July 4, 1776,” she wrote.

More Republicans say they are extremely/very proud to be Americans no matter whose party is in the White House. Fewer Democrats feel the same way, even if a member of their party is in the White House. From Star’s column:

Looking back to 2002, there was hardly any difference between Republicans and Democrats,” Star wrote. “Among Republicans, 98% said they were extremely/very proud to be an American. Among Democrats it stood at 92%.

The average was dragged down by Independents, 85% of whom said they were extremely or very proud.

However, by 2025, only 36% of Democrats said they were extremely/very proud. Independents stood at 53% and Republicans 92%.

Democrats want a different country, Star wrote. Do they want the socialist utopia that exists only inside their heads? Do they want Americans to remain polarized on the issue of race?

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), which Star founded, released two reports that reveal some interesting information about race in America and how leftists use it to keep Americans divided.

In “The Weaponization of Race is Hurting America” (PDF), CURE noted that Barack Obama, who campaigned on “Hope and Change,” actually worsened race relations in this country.

“As president, Obama repeatedly used disparate-impact analysis to suggest that statistical disparities were indicative of racial discrimination.”

Look at the issue of school discipline. Black students are disproportionately suspended or expelled. The Obama administration issued “guidance” to government schools that suggested school officials must reduce those numbers or face the loss of federal funding.

Additionally, Obama “was sometimes quick to suggest racial bias in high-profile cases” involving law enforcement. What better way to keep the country racially divided than for a president to accuse the police of bias against black Americans?

So much for “Hope and Change,” but at the time even Republicans seemed to have had high hopes for Obama’s election. In “Black Opinions and Voting Behavior,” (PDF), the authors said that on the night of his election in 2008, 61 percent of John McCain voters viewed it as “one of the most important advances for black Americans in the past 100 years.”

But by the end of Obama’s two terms, “attitudes on race had soured rather
than improved.”
