We told you on Tuesday that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit blocked Medicaid funding to large abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. A coalition of 22 states, led by California, is demanding that taxpayers like you fund abortions.
There can be no compromise on this issue. We want to stop abortions, and we don’t want to pay for them.
The Hyde Amendment, renewed every year, bars the federal government from using taxpayers’ money to fund abortions.
President Donald Trump recently told House Republicans that they have to be “a little flexible on Hyde” as part of a deal to extend Obamacare subsidies. If being flexible means weakening the amendment, Republicans must not do that, Mr. President.
Donald Eason, president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, set the record straight.
To be flexible on Hyde is to not have Hyde. We will not be flexible on protecting innocent life in the womb. If abortion is called healthcare, which it is not, the Hyde amendment will be there to save the lives of the pre-born. https://t.co/ZfwR5BGQrF
