Scott Turner, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), recently proposed a rule that would limit government housing to citizens and eligible non-citizens.
“Under President Trump’s leadership,” Secretary Turner said in a statement, “the days of illegal aliens, ineligibles, and fraudsters gaming the system and riding the coattails of American taxpayers are over.”
Hard-working American citizens struggling to pay their rent and mortgages are footing the bill for people who entered the country illegally or overstayed visas and remain here illegally. Our present administration said: no more.
“HUD’s proposed rule will guarantee that all residents in HUD-funded housing are eligible tenants,” Secretary Turner said. “We have zero tolerance for pushing aside hardworking U.S. citizens while enabling others to exploit decades-old loopholes.”
