The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) sends a weekly round-up email every Friday. Last week’s newsletter featured a section about the Working Family Tax Cuts law that President Donald Trump signed last summer.
House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office highlighted this section of CURE’s weekly round-up as well as a post on CURE’s X account in his own newsletter.
“With tax season in full swing, millions of Americans are beginning to see the full benefits of the Working Families Tax Cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) signed into law seven months ago,” CURE’s newsletter reads.
Provisions of the OBBB include a $6,000 deduction for individual seniors and $12,000 for joint filers, an expansion of 529 savings accounts, and delivering on the president’s no-tax-on-tips promise. More from CURE’s weekly round-up:
“The OBBB will also prevent taxpayer benefits from going to illegal immigrants by requiring a Social Security number for individuals claiming tax credits and deductions, and by ending illegal immigrant eligibility for health insurance premium tax credits and Medicare.”
