Planned Parenthood Drops Lawsuit Against Trump Administration Over Blocked Medicaid Funds

Planned Parenthood is no longer pursuing Medicaid funding blocked by Congress under the One Big Beautiful Bill.

The abortion mill withdrew its lawsuit, originally filed last July. A federal court in December ruled that the Trump administration could continue blocking the funds.

A coalition of states also filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the same provision. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in January issued a preliminary injunction against the coalition, blocking any Medicaid dollars for large abortion providers. The block is still in effect while the matter is pending.

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) filed amicus briefs in defunding cases.

“The fact that Planned Parenthood chose to dismiss this case shows they recognized the weakness of their position,” wrote Nathan Moelker, ACLJ attorney. “Defunding efforts can now proceed, redirecting precious resources away from abortion and toward supporting mothers, families, and life-affirming healthcare.”
