Two California Universities Under Fire Over Hosting Hispanic-Only Program

The days of Hispanic- or black-only programs are over. Anyone who encounters racial discrimination should file a federal complaint.

The University of Southern California and Loyola Marymount University are about to get an education.

The College Fix reported that both schools hosted a Hispanics-only program. Don’t the lawyers and administrators understand that colleges and universities can’t discriminate or facilitate in discriminating against individuals on the basis of race? In this case, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s Youth Leadership Institute expressly limited the program to Hispanics.

The Equal Protection Project filed the complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. The schools allow the institute to use their facilities and personnel for the program. From College Fix:

“Accordingly, USC and LMU are legally liable for the discrimination that takes place on their campuses with their support,” the complaint alleges.

William Jacobson, president of the Equal Protection Project, told the New York Post that it’s “open discrimination, they don’t try to hide it.”

The Trump administration, which opposes racial discrimination, likely will investigate the matter promptly.
