In his speech at the annual National March for Life on Friday, Vice President JD Vance reminded everyone what he said last year about wanting to see more families and babies in America.
Vice President Vance said that he practiced what he preached. He and his wife, Usha, are expecting baby #4.
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade (1973) in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022), but we still march. The decision returned the issue of abortion to the states.
We have much work to do. Vice President Vance said that we ended the era of “judicial tyranny” on abortion. We will continue building a culture of life.
“You all know very well that building a culture of life requires persuasion, and that’s what’s so different about this moment compared to the moment that was dominated by the Supreme Court for 50 years,” the vice president said. “We’re not arguing to the Supreme Court anymore. We’re trying to argue to our fellow citizens that we must build up that culture of life.”
Vice President Vance reminded us that we have an ally in the White House — a president and a vice president who seek to protect the unborn as well as pro-life advocates. He acknowledged the criticism against the Trump administration’s approach at times to protect life.
“Take heart in how far we’ve come,” he said. “But don’t lose sight of why we march. And so as long as you are out there marching for life, I hope you know that the Vice President of the United States will march with you.”
