CURE Signs On to Coalition Letters and Amicus Briefs to Stop the FDA’s Mail-Order Mifepristone Scheme

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) supports pro-life states and organizations in their efforts to protect women from harmful abortion drugs.

The FDA, which hasn’t evaluated the safety of mifepristone since approval in 2000, expanded access to the abortion drug under outdated regulations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Biden administration allowed this drug and its generic version to be prescribed after telehealth visits — instead of in-person — and sent through the mail.

CURE and other pro-life organizations last December sent a letter to President Donald Trump to thank him for his pro-life efforts but also urged him to hold his administration accountable. The DOJ tried to dismiss lawsuits that pro-life states have filed against the FDA.

Donald Eason, president of CURE, signed a coalition letter in April urging President Trump to stand with pro-life states.

CURE also signed on to an amicus brief in May that asked the Supreme Court to uphold the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit’s decision in Louisiana v. FDA to halt the FDA’s telehealth and mail-order abortion drug policy.

Abortion drug makers appealed the Fifth Circuit’s decision to the Supreme Court, which, unfortunately, allowed the FDA to continue the mail-order policy.

CURE recently signed on to a coalition letter (PDF) to Todd Blanche, acting U.S. attorney general. The signers call on him to stop the DOJ from siding with the abortion industry. An excerpt:

Pro-life states cannot meaningfully enforce their laws when FDA is siding with mail-order abortionists and DOJ is siding with abortion drug manufacturers. Virtually every state has some law on the books that makes the current mail-order abortion regime unlawful, even basic laws like practicing medicine without a license. Yet abortionists protected by so called “shield laws” ship drugs nationally with impunity, pointing to FDA for cover.

CURE is committed to sharing the truth about abortion and saving lives: the mother’s and the child’s. Download CURE’s report (PDF) about the impact of abortion on the black community.

  1. Ironic that the “pro-choice” crowd’s push to legalize abortion in the 1970s was touted as “protecting women’s health.” Now they consider “access to abortion” more important than women’s health and safety, and even their choices. Witness the growing numbers of women who are coerced or tricked into taking the poison pill, by the usual suspects – boyfriends, parents, pimps, and even social workers and doctors, who find it much easier and cheaper than persuading them to undergo a surgical abortion.

Abortion is just one more way women are exploited, and it’s time they woke up and realized that the abortionists DON’T have their best interests at heart.
