Did you know that the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte allowed men to share dorm rooms with women?
UNC decided to get rid of this ridiculous, invasive, and dangerous policy, Campus Reform reported. The reason? To comply with federal mandates barring DEI, which colleges and universities that receive taxpayers’ dollars must do if they want the money — and they definitely do. An excerpt:
“As a recipient of federal funds, UNC Charlotte must comply with applicable Title IX directives,” [communications director] Jackson continued. “Our housing assignments have always been based on sex in accordance with UNC System policy; in light of those changes, we could no longer continue offering this separate, specialized grouping option.”
At least students had a choice to room with the opposite sex. Imagine an unaware female freshman arriving at the school with her parents, ready to settle into her dorm room and finding a man in a dress and makeup unpacking.
Leftists on campus hate it, naturally. Or should I say, unnaturally?
“We completely disagree with UNCC’s decision to end this policy,” a spokesperson for the College Democrats at UNC Charlotte told Campus Reform. “We strongly believe that universities should be places where every student feels safe, free, comfortable, respected, and is able to thrive and learn in an environment without discrimination.”
Too bad. President Donald Trump has spoken on this issue.
Oddly, the UNC system has a policy in place that bans people of the opposite sex sharing dorm rooms, with the exception of siblings and married couples. Administrators that allowed “gender-affirming” housing violated their own institution’s regulations.
