This Wednesday, June 24, we commemorated the fourth anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which enables Congress and state legislatures to protect unborn children. As we bear witness to the sacredness of human life, the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) is releasing our latest report on “The Impact of Abortion on the Black Community.”
CURE President Donald T. Eason, co-author of the report, celebrates this Dobbs anniversary with a renewed call for action. “After nearly five decades of courts imposing abortion on America and blocking numerous efforts to protect the sanctity of human life, policymakers at all levels of government now have the opportunity and obligation to do everything in their power to protect human life, inside and outside the womb,” Eason says.
“The Impact of Abortion on the Black Community” points out that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is undertaking a safety review of the abortion drug mifepristone that should be completed by the end of 2026. On a parallel track, a federal judge has set an October 2026 deadline for the FDA to respond to a lawsuit by the State of Louisiana that seeks to protect their state law by stopping the practice of sending abortion drugs through the mail. The report further notes that CURE and our pro-life allies are calling on the Department of Justice to settle the Louisiana lawsuit and restore the in-person doctor visit requirement that was in place during President Trump’s first term.
