Leftists are seething after the U.S. Supreme Court sent the issue of abortion back to the states in 2022. Despite the decision, abortion continues, but striking down “law of the land” Roe v. Wade (1973) made leftists spiral.
Post-Roe, enraged abortion advocates have vandalized and attacked pregnancy centers. The pro-abortion Biden administration tried to force emergency room doctors to kill babies as “stabilizing care.” The Trump administration put a stop to it.
The U.S. Department of Justice recently released a report that reveals exactly how the Biden administration used the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act to target pro-lifers.
At the state level, attorneys general in California and New York harassed pro-life pregnancy centers that offer hope for women who change their minds about killing their babies. Women who’ve taken abortion pills may be able to reverse abortions by taking progesterone. Abortion advocates don’t like that.
Two courts stopped Letitia James, New York’s AG, from harassing pro-life pregnancy centers. The cases against Rob Bonta, California’s AG, are still pending.
Four years after the high court struck down Roe, the harassment continues.
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is legal counsel to A Woman’s Concern, Inc., d/b/a Your Options Medical Centers (“YOM”), a pro-life organization that sued the state of Massachusetts.
According to ACLJ, state officials “launched a coordinated, taxpayer-funded assault on centers like YOM simply because they refuse to refer for or promote abortion and, instead, promote life.”
ACLJ recently filed an opening brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on YOM’s behalf. In a campaign to discredit pro-life pregnancy centers, the state branded YOM’s work as dangerous, deceptive, and a public health threat. An excerpt:
The results were predictable and devastating: A physician resigned rather than risk professional repercussions under the state’s threats. YOM turned away patients. Client numbers dropped. And YOM’s medical director has endured a prolonged Board of Registration in Medicine investigation – triggered by a complaint from the state’s own campaign partner – now stretching beyond two years with no finding of wrongdoing.
YOM appealed to the First Circuit after a lower court considered aspects of the campaign separately and ruled against them.
“The Supreme Court has made clear that courts must look at the whole picture together – especially in cases like this at the early pleading stage,” ACLJ said.
The bottom line: Leftists want pregnancy centers that give women more options besides death CLOSED. Pro-abortion bureaucrats do not want women to have all the information they need to make an informed decision.
