HUD Secretary Scott Turner is Going After Boston for Race-Based Discrimination in Housing Program

Scott Turner, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), announced that Boston’s race-based housing program violates federal law.

And discrimination against individuals based on their race won’t be tolerated.

Secretary Turner opened an investigation last week into the city’s housing practices.

“We believe the City of Boston has engaged in a social engineering project that intentionally advances discriminatory housing policies driven by an ideological commitment to DEI rather than merit or need,” the secretary said in a statement. “HUD is committed to protecting every American’s civil rights and will thoroughly investigate the City’s stated goal of ‘integrating racial equity into every layer of city government.’ This warped mentality will be fully exposed, and Boston will come into full compliance with federal anti-discrimination law.”

Secretary Turner sent a letter to Mayor Michelle Wu’s Office of Housing. In it, he asks for all the city’s documents and communications concerning HUD grants and other items.

“Failure to respond adequately and in a timely manner to this request may result in a determination of non-compliance.”

Finally, an administration that is laying down the law.

Secretary Turner said on Newsmax that Boston’s housing program put race above merit and need. He added that at HUD, DEI is dead.
